Ash Armenta is a print media artist based in the Bay Area of California, holds a B. A. in printmaking from UC Santa Cruz, and recently concluded the two year program at Tamarind Institute receiving the title of Tamarind Master Printer.
Ash uses contemporary and traditional techniques in personal practice as well as when working on print projects with collaborating artists. Recently Ash became a member of Little Giant Collective, a studio in Santa Cruz, Ca focusing on relief, letterpress, and screen printing.
Other endeavors include teaching studio art and art history lecture, illustration, woodworking, outdoor murals and projects involving handmade fine detail.
“My initial attraction to printmaking was the community atmosphere fostered by a necessity of shared space and knowledge. As a queer artist I see print media as a essential equalizing tool for voices that otherwise may be discouraged into silence”
